Country Profile Front PageExpose your students to 198 countries through independent research using digital case studies. Each digital one-pager is itching for your students to complete. Included on each page are the seven units of study for Human Geography with pre-selected major concepts for students to research. Assign each student their own slide where your class can explore the connected hot-links and create a collaborative finished product.

Afghanistan Example
Topics are hot-linked so that students can discover: Geographic site factors, Koppen Climate Zones, Geographic Situation Factors, Environmental Issues, Population Pyramids, Net-In/Out Migration, Predominant Languages, Predominant Religions, Majority/Minority Ethnic Groups, Global Gender Gaps, Agricultural Products, Predominant Agricultural Land Uses, Border and Boundary types using given political map, Transnational Issues, Capital & Largest Cities, % Urban Population, % Urban Population in Slums, Labor Force %, Major Industries, Major Export Commodities, School Life Expectancy.

Have students complete some or all of a country’s Google Slide depending on your classroom goals.

Ideas for Use:

  • Assign students a set of countries to follow throughout the year; have them complete each unit box by each unit’s end. Have students present their findings at the end of unit/term.
  • Assign/choose random countries using my COUNTRY SPINNERS at the HumanImprint.com.
  • Create a classroom schedule and have a different student post one per day to your classroom LMS or through oral presentation to the classroom.
  • Spotlight countries throughout the year as students are presented with significant case studies.
  • Offer students extra credit in exchange for completing and presenting a country profile.
  • Use for an emergency substitute lesson plan.
  • Use for the end of the year review by having students compare/contrast MEDC and LEDC countries. Remember that there are 198 countries, so one shared Google Slide file works well with multiple classes. Use the COUNTRY SPINNERS at the www.theHumanImprint.com to assign countries.
  • After completion, have students use Google News to search for current events that relate to one of the unit boxes. Tell students to present their findings with a hot-link to the article.
  • Tell students to edit text, colors, fonts, images to suit their needs.
  • Have students complete the country profiles with only numbers, graphs, charts maps, and/or pictures; challenge students to use oral presentations to explain.

Includes: (1 PDF file, 3 pages)
